Snow Storm Sunday Afternoon

Brett has been saying how he misses the snow. Well Sunday afternoon a storm blew in and we got about 6 inches of new snow in about 2 hours. Brooklyn & Travis and Brady headed home when I think it was the worst, but they were afraid of it getting even worse. They both made it home safe and sound. They said there was lost of cars in the ditch. I am glad that they were being watched over.

GRANDMA & GRANDPA SOMMERFELDT'S GIFT

Grandma & Grandpa Sommerfeldt didn't know what to get everybody this year for Christmas this year so we talked them into all of going out for Chinese food and bowling. The whole family was their except for Brett. This will have to be something that we will have to do again when he gets home. Everybody was asking how he was doing and how are phone call went. So it goes to show you that everyone was thinking of him.

CHRISTMAS DAY 2008

This was a very different Christmas with Brett being on his mission in Queretaro Mexico. The kids all stayed at their in law's . It was noon before we started opening gifts up. The years of getting up early are all in the past. Even though Brett wasn't with us in the home he was their in spirit. We were all home together when he phoned that night and it was great to be able to talk to him again. He is doing great but keeps complaining that it is too hot and wishes he could see snow.

DEl & TARA DOUBLE UP

Beazer Bunch

We were a little smaller bunch this year for Christmas with Mom & Dad on a mission in Nauvoo, Darren & Verena and there family joining mom and dad in Nauvoo, Gerilyn and her family in Utah and Angie, Bart and there family in Idaho. On Christmas Eve we went sledding with Duane and his family, Jennifer and her family and Tara & I. We had to enjoy Duane's little kids as ours are all grown up. And yes we all looked like the Red Neck Family.

Laynee Came For A Visit

Bobbie came down to go to the temple with a friend, so Del and I had the privilege of watching her. The first thing she said to the both of us was " I Love You Grandma & Grandpa". She then wanted us to watch a movie with her. After dinner we took her for a ride around town to see all the Christmas lights. After that we stopped at the grocery store to get some milk. Before we got to the checkout she convinced grandpa to buy her a barbie ball, doll & a pair of boots. It is pretty easy to spoil grand kids, especially when they say please grandpa. The three of us had a great evening together. We look forward to Christmas when we will have more time together. It is going to be lost's of fun watching her open presents.

BRETT'S LETTER DEC. 1/08

Man sometimes we hear things that make us wonder and to think about what we are doing in life and what we need to make our life’s better to be ready to return to our heavenly father. We just have to remember that blessings come after our trials of faith. This life is a test and we will always be tempted because that is how we show our dedication to the lord and how we show our faith in him and his son. Satan is always trying to get us to fall so we can become miserable like him. I have been reading in a bunch of different books this week and something that stuck out to me is that the same war that was fought in heaven in still going on today. Satan is still trying to get a grasp on our hearts and lead us down and away from our savior and his gospel. We cannot fall into those temptations and let him gain power over us.
I have been thinking a lot about what I was going to write this week and I haven’t been able to think of anything. As I sit in this hard seat and type on this sticky keyboard all I can really think of is that we need to do as the lord told us to do and consider the lilies. We need to love life and everything that is in it. We need to always remember that everything we have and everything that we see was created by the lord and we need to thank him for everything that we have. We need to focus on the things that are important to us and the things that we will take with us after we pass away. Those things are the covenants that we make with our lord while we are on this earth, our knowledge that includes both temporal and spiritual, but most of all the most important thing that we take with us and that we can have for eternity is our families. I hope everyday that someday I will be able to be with the father with my family that I will have some day and with the family that I have right now. I love you all and I hope that all of you will do the things necessary in this life so that we can all live together in the life after this. I hope all of you know what you have to do to obtain this great gift that our lord has given to us and if you don’t, then you need to ask those people in the church that do. This is our time to do what we know we need to do. Don’t waste it, so when that day comes we won’t have any regrets. I promise that it will be a lot better if we do the things that are necessary.
Well know for a little about our week, not much happened but we baptized a little girl that was 12. She has a great family and we are helping them become active in the church again, all we need to do now is get the girls dad to feel the spirit and to be baptized. It has been pretty hot this week though and im wishing that it will start to cool down a little but I don’t think that it will happen. Well I love you all and thanks for everything. Until next week. Brett & His Mouse/Rat Picture

I asked Brett what was up with the picture and he said that he and his companion thought that the mouse was dead so they were going to try and burn it. He said that after trying a few times they gave up. He also said that after watching it for a while they seen the mouses ear moving. He said that he know that mice and rat's are from the devil. The crazy things that boy's will try and do.

Travis All Dressed Up

Travis was in his cousin's wedding and she will most likely the only one that could get him to wear pink. He does look sharp in it. She was even able to get him to cut his hair. The things he would do for a cousin and not his mother in law!

Brett's Letter Nov. 17/08

Every once in a while Brett sends amazing letter's so we thought that we would post them once in a while. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we have. He seems to always give advice or encouragement.

Dear Family

well i hope this week went as well for all of you as it did for me. we had pretty good lessons and everything at the beginning of the week, then i hit my 6th month mark and the next two days after that were really good. the cultural event was freaking amazing. the stadium was packed full and there was about 130 thousand people in attendance. i don't know if you guys were able to watch it but im sure that you can find it somewhere on the Internet and near the end i think that i got on tv. all the missionaries were on the field for the end of the event and elder Soto from Arizona said that they watched it and that he saw me. i have felt the spirit pretty much all the time this week. it has been great. i just finished the book of mormon again, and i have started doctrine and cov. everytime we read that book we need to do what Moroni tells us to do, pray about the things we have read so we can gain a testimony about it. it was pretty good timing for me to finish because of the reenactment of the history of this country at the cultural event, and to see all those youth play a part and to see them in costumes that the people back in that day would have been wearing. having president Monson and Eyring there for sure brought the spirit into the event. it was a pretty long day as we left Queretaro around 10 in the morning and didn´t get back until 2 in the night. sunday morning was an early one for us because we had to get up early to start the boiler so we could have a warm shower. then we had to be at the church before 9 so we could see the re-dedication of the temple. it was great to hear president Monson and Eyring bear there testimonies about the importance of temple and the blessing that we can receive if we attend them worthily. i have been thinking alot this week about my mission and about life in general. as i read my patriatical blessing again this week i had a feeling that i should study more about the plan of salvation and what we need to do while we are in this life. well im going to share my thoughts with you guys so im pretty much going to start from the beginning about how we lived with our father in heaven before this life. everyone of us were valiant in the life before. i know this because we have been saved for the last days so we can partake and have the fullness of our saviors gospel here on earth. i thank my heavenly father every day for the opportunity that i have to be here when we can choose to receive all the blessings that he has for us, as for some of our ancestors they never had the chance to receive everything that they could because the gospel was not on the earth. we chose to come here and this time and the lord has blessed us with his gospel. when we are here on this earth we need to do all that we can do to bring forth the gospel to our brothers and sisters. we need to have faith hope charity and love. we need express our faith by doing everything that the lord commands of us. we need to be baptized, and by being baptized we show our father in heaven that we want to follow the example of his son. Everyweek as we partake of the sacrament we show our lord that we are willing to live his gospel, and do the things that he has asked us to do. Everytime i partake of the sacrament i review my week and i repent of the bad things that i did during the week, then i partake and it is like I'm baptized all over again. i need to do all that i can during the week to remember the promises that i made to the lord when i participated in the sacrament that sunday. this is what i think enduring to the end is. to try our hardest to do all that lord tells us to do and to partake of the sacrament every week so we can receive blessing and eventually receive the greatest blessing of living with our father in heaven once again. ya we are going to have trials come in our lives. i believe that we are given trials to help us put our trust in the lord so we can gain a better testimony. we always need to be gaining a testimony because when we think about it, if we just have a simple one and never try to gain a stronger one, we are just letting Satan come in and tempt us to do bad things. we are letting him gain power over our hearts if we don't constantly read the scriptures and do the things we need to be doing. the scriptures have so much power that they can work miracles in lives. i know this because i have seen it in others lives and also in my own. well that is what i have been feeling like and these are some of the things that have been running through my mind this week. i just hope that someday i can be able to be with our father in heaven with the knowledge that i did everything that i did when i was on earth, and that i tried my hardest to bring forth his gospel to my brothers and sisters and that i was always worthy to receive the gifts from god that he gave me to bring forth his work. i hope and pray everyday that i can be the best "instrument in the hands of god." well family i hope that you all had a great week last week, and that your going to have an even better one this week.

WINTER HAS COME

The last week of October was wonderful weather, but as we entered a new month it started to snow. Thank heavens it only lasted a few hours and the past few day's have been nice again. We even cooked and bottled hot sauce outside yesterday. I was grateful to have it nice outside so that we didn't have to live with the smell of hot sauce in the house for a week.

BRETT

Brett arrived in Mexico City on Oct. 24/08. When he wrote on Monday he seemed like he wasn't sure where he was to be. He said that all the time he was in Phoenix he could wait to get to Mexico and now that he is there he is missing the people in Phoenix. Another thing that he said was that he was missing good old American food. There are his addresses

SON INLAW- TRAVIS

I warned Travis that I would get even with him for not excepting me as a friend on facebook. These are only a few pictures that I chose to post at this time. Noticed the hair in lot's of his pictures, especially the one where Brooklyn straightened it.

Yes Travis I do Love You
