JOSEPH SMITH LEGACY CAMP

This past week was an amazing week. It was a week that was physical, emotional and spiritual exhausting. It started on Wednesday and ended of Saturday. We started trekking on Wednesday morning and had re-enactments along the way and arrived in camp that evening. Thursday was a day full of activities, re-enactments and the women's pull. I have never experienced anything like it before. When I stood at the bottom of the hill and looked up it I thought to my self there is no way we will ever be able to pull a hand cart up that steep of a hill, and if we as leaders can't do it then how are the girl going to be able to do it. After we crossed the creek and got about 3/4 the way up we were all physically and emotionally worn out the men were aloud to come and help us to get to the top of the hill. At that point I was so glad to receive help. Once we were at the top we watched to the girls to come con hand cart at a time. I was so glad as I watched for all of the young women in the ward make it to the top. They too were struggling with physically and emotionally. Friday the day was full of activities and finishing the temple. The last re- enactment of the day was the martyrdom of Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum Smith. I can not put into words how emotional that was. When we came out of the tree's late Friday night night and seen the temple glowing, the youth all wanted to go over and see it and take pictures. Everyone left camp with a positive experience.
